The Professor Tsunamibots

Updated: Jan 15, 2019

The Professor Tsunamibots are a robotics team from St. Charles, IL, made up of eight students who range from 5th to 7th grade. They competed recently in the FIRST Lego League Challenge.

Part of the program is to do a research project on a given topic. This year, they had to identify a problem that humans encounter during prolonged space travel and research solutions. Through their initial research, the team learned that 60% of astronauts are likely to get a kidney stone versus 10% of the general population. Since many of the students have family members affected by kidney stones, the team researched ideas to identify and prevent kidney stones during space travel.

With a little help from the NKFI and the expertise of Professional Advisory Board member Dr. Aneesha Shetty, we're pleased to announce that The Professor Tsunamibots are moving on to the state competition on January 19!

It warms us to the bottom of our kidneys to see kids this age already taking an interest in our favorite organ!

Team members: Andrew, Brendan, Brett, Brayden, Gavin, Jimmy, Sam, Matthew Coaches: Chris Frausto, Susie Frausto

Congratulations!!
