Metropolis Planet: CHESI hosting KidneyMobile®

CAIRO — Community Health and Emergency Services (CHESI) is partnering with the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois (NKFI) to host the KidneyMobile® screening event.

The event will be from noon until 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, at Cairo Junior-Senior High School, located at 4201 Sycamore St. in Cairo. Participants are asked to enter through the gym doors; signs will be posted.

“We believe this event will significantly benefit our community by raising awareness about kidney health and providing essential screenings that can detect early signs of kidney disease, plus diabetes,” said Artie McBride with CHESI.

The KidneyMobile® is an initiative that travels across Illinois, providing free, comprehensive kidney health screenings to communities in need. Those screenings include blood pressure checks, body mass index (BMI) measurements and blood glucose tests. Test results will be available the same day. Private consultations with medical professionals are also offered.

Participants must be 18 years old or older. While fasting is not required, a urine sample is. Pre-registration is available at mobilescreening.nkfi.org/preregistration to complete the health questionnaire prior to screening. Walk-ins are welcome.

“This event is a fantastic opportunity for individuals to receive vital health information and resources,” McBride said. “The NKFI team, led by Regina White, senior KidneyMobile® manager, ensures that each screening is conducted with the highest standards of care and professionalism.”
