COBDEN, Ill (WSIL) -- Wednesday the National Kidney Foundation [of Illinois] hosted a free Kidney and Diabetes screening in Cobden. They had screenings, including: blood pressure checks, blood-glucose tests, BMI Assessments and blood draws. They also had consultants on hand to go over nutrition and medical information. Participants were encouraged to walk in and appointments weren't required. Organizers say prevention is key when dealing with kidney diseases.
"Kidney disease have no symptoms. So by the time a person starts to feel some sort of signs of kidney problems, its usually in stage 5 where its almost time for dialysis. So we do these tests to try to prevent this happening." said Regina White with the National Kidney Foundation [of Illinois.]
The mobile clinic will be in Carbondale Thursday. You can visit it at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Friday, the clinic will be at the Black Diamond Harley Davidson Showroom.
