Changes are Coming to Medicaid

Medicaid work requirements are expected to begin later this year for some adults ages 21–64 who are able to work. Not every member will be impacted. Some adult members may have new work requirements and be required to prove eligibility twice a year instead of once, starting in January 2027. Some immigrants may no longer be eligible, starting in October 2026. Nothing has changed yet, so stay enrolled!

Not every HealthChoice Illinois member will be impacted. The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) will tell you if you need to do these things.

Work requirements will not be required for pregnant women, adults with children 13 and younger, students, and people with disabilities.
