Black History Month Virtual Conversation: Closing the Gap

Join us on Tuesday, February 23 at 4PM CST for a virtual conversation in honor of Black History Month. Our panel of experts will discuss health disparities in transplant and diagnosis, the importance of representation, cultural considerations in diet and much more.


Speakers include:

  • Dr. Velma Scantlebury - the nation's first Black, female transplant surgeon

  • Dr. Dinee Simpson, Northwestern Medicine - Chicago's only Black, female transplant surgeon

  • Dr. Milda Saunders, University of Chicago - her research includes health disparities and chronic kidney disease

  • Samantha Mok, MSW, LSW, University of Illinois Health - transplant social worker
