JOB DESCRIPTION: Development Coordinator

Position Description:

The Development Coordinator is responsible for providing administrative support for the development enterprise (40%) and logistical and fundraising support for special events with a focus on Team Kidney, Middle Market Open and NKFI Golf Classic (60%). The Development Coordinator will be the lead coordinator for Team Kidney and report to the Special Events Manager.

 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Administrative support for the development enterprise (40%) as directed by Sr. Director of Development:

  • Help maintain and update DonorPerfect database

  • Prepare development reports and analyses

  • Prepare mailing lists and assist in execution of donor appeals and communications

  • Other duties as assigned

Logistical and fundraising support for special events (60%) as directed by Special Events Manager:

  • Responsible for overall Team Kidney development, team recruitment and retention strategies, logistics and best practice implementation to achieve revenue goals

  • Ensure the success of Team Kidney by being point-person for the execution of event logistics on the weekend of event. Act as staff liaison for on-site staff and vendors providing services for event logistics

  • Assist collaboratively with MMO Board and Golf Classic Committee, leadership, staff and volunteers in cultivating donors and soliciting individual and corporate contributions.

  • Assist in recruitment, management and support of MMO board and Golf Classic committees, event-related meetings, and volunteers.

  • Assist in procurement of donations, silent auction items, and in-kind services.

  • Assist in development and execution of annual timelines for events, including goals, budget, objectives, follow up and evaluation.

  • Assist event staff lead by being point-person for the execution of event logistics on event days. Act as staff liaison for on-site staff and vendors providing services for event logistics. 

  • Assist with research, site visits, selection of and contract negotiations with third-party vendors.

  • Evening and weekend work required as needed, minimal travel to Chicago suburbs for meetings as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, with a minimum of one- two years of relevant nonprofit administrative and or special event management experience

  • Experience soliciting and securing donations from corporations, foundations and individuals preferred

  • Volunteer management experience, including ability to organize, motivate, and recruit committee members

  • Experience managing event logistics, including auction and auction item procurement and vendor management preferred

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; must be comfortable and able to present in front of large groups

  • Ability to interface with all levels of Board, staff and volunteers

  • Ability to work and make sound decisions independently and take initiative to work with a team

  • High capacity to manage, assess value and importance, and prioritize multiple tasks and activities

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work with tremendous attention to detail

  • Excellent customer service/donor relations skills

  • Experience with and developing budgets, tracking income and expenses and meeting financial goals preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and donor management systems (Donor Perfect preferred)

  • Must have a valid driver’s license

  • Must be able to lift at least 35 pounds
