JOB DESCRIPTION: Outreach and Advocacy Associate

​

Position Description:

The Outreach and Advocacy Associate is an integral member of the Outreach and Advocacy Team.  The Outreach and Advocacy Contractual Associate will support the Foundation’s outreach and advocacy initiatives by assisting the team in establishing, maintaining, and building partnerships with key community organizations within the State of Illinois, including outreach to educational, religious, civic, and social organizations to raise awareness about the Foundation and Kidney Disease. This position will focus primarily on outreach in the black communities as well as other communities as needed.   

 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research and plan Outreach events to be held virtually or in person.

  • Coordinate and plan Advocacy Day/Week activities.

  • Coordinate registration process, data collection, and venue for Virtual or in person Outreach and Advocacy events.

  • Review outreach and advocacy event evaluation data and make suggestions for future program updates based on participant responses. 

  • Contact Legislative staffers to update them with information on pending legislation.

  • Oversee Community Advisory Board (CAB) registration and membership list.

  • Assist with Transplant, CKD and Dialysis Ambassador groups

  • Assist with Recruiting, Tracking and Managing Outreach And Advocacy volunteers and activities according to Foundation guidelines.

  • Track program expenses and income receipt for NKFI outreach and advocacy events; reconcile income and expenses. 

  • Assist with podcast guest scheduling and preparation.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)

  • Proficiency with Mailchimp

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Comfort presenting in front of a group.

  • Ability to work well independently or as part of a team.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license; carry current insurance on personal vehicle when driven on Foundation business and be insurable to drive for Foundation business.   

  • Must be able to use your own car and cell phone throughout our service area.

  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs

Education:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred (or equivalent work experience) 

​

Reporting Relationship:

The Outreach and Advocacy Associate position reports to the Director of Outreach and Government Relations
