Melanie Betz, MS, RD, CSR, CSG

Melanie provides nutrition education and counseling for patients with Chronic Kidney Disease, Polycystic Kidney Disease and Nephrolithiasis at University of Chicago Medicine. She is certified in both geriatric and kidney nutrition. Her research has focused on knowledge and adherence of renal diet restrictions, Medical Nutrition Therapy for Polycystic Kidney Disease, plant-based diets, frailty and malnutrition. She volunteers as a member of the Executive Committee for the Healthy Aging Dietetic Practice Group and for various projects through NKFI including the Kidneys in the Kitchen video series. She received her Bachelors of Science in Dietetics at Michigan State University and completed her Masters in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetic Internship at Rush University Medical Center.
