>Dialysis
There are more than 15,000 patients on dialysis in Illinois and approximately 190 dialysis centers across the state. The National Kidney Foundation of Illinois provides educational programs, materials and services to assist patients and their family members who are seeking information and support. Please click here for a list of dialysis centers in Illinois.
Each year the NKFI provides Patient Education Days, rotating them throughout the state. Patient Education Days provide patients and their families an opportunity to meet with others in a relaxed setting and dedicate a day focused on education. Kidney disease can be complicated and the treatments and finances associated with them can often be overwhelming and cumbersome. NKFI staff, along with a committee of patients and medical professionals help plan a full day of seminars and activities for patients and families to learn ways to help themselves and live more comfortably with their illness. Local medical professionals; nephrologists, social workers, dietitians, nurses and other experts in related fields are on hand to offer their advice, words of wisdom and current information on hot topics that are most relevant for patients and their families today.
