Natalie Gulbis to Attend Middle Market Open™ Golf Tournament Benefitting the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois
Tenth Annual Golf Tournament Sets Record-Breaking Fundraising Goal for Chronic Disease

More than 1.1 million people in Illinois, or 1 in 9 American adults, are living with kidney disease - and most don’t know it. The National Kidney Foundation of Illinois is working to change this statistic through one of their most successful fundraisers, the Middle Market Open Golf Tournament. This year, the Middle Market Open will be held on Monday, July 28, with special guest Natalie Gulbis, LPGA Tour award winner.

Since the event’s inauguration in 2005, the Middle Market Open has raised more than $3.5 million for the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois. This year, the event’s tenth anniversary, the Middle Market Open Committee is hoping to surpass $4 million.

Proceeds raised will go toward essential kidney disease prevention and education programs provided by the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois, such as the life-saving and unique healthcare screening unit called the KidneyMobile®. The KidneyMobile® program holds free kidney disease screenings throughout the state of Illinois. If left untreated, kidney disease can lead to kidney failure, causing those affected to rely on dialysis or a transplant to survive. Every year, kidney disease kills over 90,000 people – more than breast and prostate cancer combined.

Held at Olympia Fields Country Club, home of the 2003 U.S. Open and future home of the 2015 U.S. Amateur Championship, this golf tournament is the only amateur golf tournament designed exclusively by and for the Chicago area middle market deal making community. Middle Market Open players will compete for two top prizes: a trip for two to Pebble Beach, California, including three rounds of golf and a three-night stay, or a trip for two to Las Vegas, Nevada, including lessons at the Butch Harmon School of Golf.

Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP and BMO Harris Bank, supporters of the tournament for many years, are the co-event sponsors of the Middle Market Open.

“BMO Harris Bank is very pleased to be a long-time sponsor of the Middle Market Open Golf Tournament,” said Henry Munez, Managing Director at BMO Harris Bank N.A. and member of the Middle Market Open committee. “Not only is the tournament one of the best of the summer, but its proceeds benefit the lifesaving programs and initiatives of the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois, a cause we are very proud to support.”
