Eleventh Annual Golf Tournament Introduces NextGen Tournament to Take Place Simultaneously with the MMO
1.12 million people in Illinois, or 1 in 9 American adults, are living with kidney disease—and most don’t know it. The National Kidney Foundation of Illinois is working to change this statistic through one of their most successful fundraisers, the Middle Market Open Golf Tournament. This year, the Middle Market Open will be held on Monday, July 27, with special guests Holly Sonders, Fox Sports anchor and former Golf Channel correspondent, and Corey McPherrin, five-time Emmy winning Fox Chicago anchor.
Since the event’s inauguration in 2005, the Middle Market Open has raised more than $4 million for the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois. This year, the event’s eleventh anniversary, the Middle Market Open Committee is introducing the Middle Market Open NextGen Tournament, which will occur simultaneously with the MMO. Following lunch and a round of golf at Ravisloe Country Club, the participants will join the MMO players at Olympia Fields Country Club for dinner and golf discussion with Holly Sonders and Corey McPherrin. The proceeds of the NextGen Tournament will go toward the Future Founders Foundation.
Proceeds raised will benefit essential kidney disease prevention and education programs provided by the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois, such as the life-saving and unique health-screening unit called the KidneyMobile®. The KidneyMobile program holds free kidney disease screenings throughout the state of Illinois. If left untreated, kidney disease can lead to kidney failure, causing those affected to rely on dialysis or a transplant to survive. Every year, kidney disease kills over 90,000 people – more than breast and prostate cancer combined.
Held at Olympia Fields Country Club, home of the 2003 U.S. Open and this year’s home of the 2015 U.S. Amateur Championship, this golf tournament is the only amateur golf tournament designed exclusively by and for the Chicago area middle market deal making community. Middle Market Open players will compete for prizes including a trip for four to Pebble Beach, California, including three rounds of golf and a three-night stay or a trip for two to Las Vegas, Nevada, including lessons at the Butch Harmon School of Golf.
BMO Harris Bank and Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP, supporters of the tournament for many years, are the co-event sponsors of the Middle Market Open.
Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP has sponsored the tournament for the past eleven years. Saul Rudo, partner at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP, has been a member of the volunteer event committee since 2013.
“Katten is proud to support this phenomenal event that brings people together to help those who are living with kidney disease and their families,” said Saul. “The National Kidney Foundation of Illinois does outstanding work. Their impactful programs and other outreach help educate and empower patients as well as those in the medical community.”
BMO Harris continues to sponsor the Middle Market Open since 2008, making this the seventh year of their partnership and advocacy.
“We’re proud to once again support the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois through our sponsorship of the annual Middle Market Open,” said Henry Munez, Managing Director at BMO Harris Bank. “We’re focused on supporting the health and well-being of the communities in which we do business, which makes our support for the Foundation such a perfect fit for us.”
