Topic 11Lupus Foundation of America

The Lupus Foundation of America (LFA) was incorporated as a non-profit health agency in 1977. Assists local chapters in their efforts to provide supportive services to individuals living with lupus, educates the public about lupus and supports medical research.

The Lupus Foundation Of America is a grass roots, volunteer-driven organization. Volunteers, through an extensive network of more than 300 constituent chapters, branches and support groups, provide the majority of services which link the Lupus Foundation to thousands of people with lupus and their families.

LFA Provides:

Direction and general support to its chapters, including:

  • A patient oriented, non-profit, voluntary health agency.
  • Develops specific services and programs to provide chapters with assistance in meeting members' needs and organizational goals, including:
    • chapter support, research, volunteer leadership training, patient education programs, professional education, advocacy, and resource development.
