CHAPTER 3:Preparing for Kidney Failure
Topic 9Transplantation

Transplantation is a surgery in which a person whose own kidneys have failed, receives a donated kidney to replace the non-functioning kidney. When your kidneys fail, three treatment options are available: hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and kidney transplantation. There are two types of kidney transplants, from living donors and from donors who have died.
