Urinary tract infection (UTI) occurs when bacteria enters the urinary tract. Painful or frequent urination can be signs of a urinary tract infection. Repeated or untreated UTI can eventually cause damage to the kidneys and possible kidney failure. Urinary tract infections can be treated with medication.
