Topic 14Polycystic Kidney Disease
Polycystic Kidney Disease: A genetic disorder characterized by the growth of numerous fluid-filled cysts in the kidneys. As these cysts grow, they block normal kidney function causing some degree of pain due to the blockages. Patients with polycystic kidneys often urinate in relatively normal amounts, however the ability to remove wastes is poor and diminished function can progress to kidney failure.
