Cardiovascular Disease includes a number of conditions affecting the structure or function of the heart. They can include coronary artery disease, abnormal heart rhythms, heart failure, heart valve and heart muscle disease. Kidney patients are often at an increased risk for developing cardiovascular (heart) disease. Maintaining a healthy diet, exercise and not smoking are important factors in helping to prevent heart disease.
